Winter Races

I am new at winter races. What is Central Park like for a race after it has snowed? Do they salt the running course or do you just come prepared to slip and slide as you run? Also what will Prospect Park be like this weekend for running? I usually run in my neighborhood but I know no one has shoveled anything and I have an 11 mile long run to accomplish. Thank you.

In Prospect Park, they salt and shovel the day or so after it snowed. So, except for the day of the storm itself, there is no problem. However, the big advantage of Prospect Park is being able to run on dirt. They don’t shovel nor salt on the grass.

In Central Park, I guess it is very much the same. However, I remember a race of NYRR there was ice on the water they gave us, and although they salted around the drinking place, there was ice there too.
